Working agent heating units (enclosed flare systems)

Klaster Trading House is one of the leading suppliers of working agent heating units. The working agent heating unit is a process equipment complex allowing up to 100% of associated petroleum gas to be utilized efficiently. The heat obtained as a result of gas burning is used for heating operating and process media. The main peculiarity of this type of plant is that the heating process, in contrast to line and direct-fired heaters, is not performed in a coil by an open flame, but takes place in a shell-and-tube heat exchanger using flue gas preliminarily mixed with air. Such a solution allows medium heating temperature to be controlled efficiently and the heating system to be flexible in relation to the flow of the medium to be heated and utilizable gas and increases the service life of the principal structural components.

This unit is capable of handling associated petroleum gas of almost any composition. The only limitation is imposed on presence of sulphurous components in this gas.

The medium to be heated may consist of any process media available at the Customer’s site. Among them the most widely used are oil emulsion, heating water, oil, antifreeze, tosol cooling agents and others.

Unlike all other methods of associated petroleum gas utilization the working agent heating unit is an installation with low energy consumption. As a rule, the main electricity consumers are the electric drives of its control components and valves, control systems, lighting systems and gas blower electric motors.

The unit is placed on an open site, in which case it is possible for it to be operated as an installation using the gas to be sent to an emergency flare system when performing repair work on equipment, which allows the oil and gas resources of a field to be consumed more efficiently.

The working agent heating unit consists of the following components and systems:

• heat-insulated vertical oxidation chamber;

• gas ducts;

• main and pilot burners (placed inside the oxidation chamber);

• heat exchanger, several heat exchangers are also possible;

• gas blower, it is possible to use several pieces depending on the quantity of heat exchangers;

• chimney;

• control system, parameter monitoring and measurement means.

In addition to the main process components, the unit may include additional heated medium pump units and automation units.

The main advantages of the working agent heating unit are as follows:

• absence of smoke, vapour, visible flame, odour;

• low noise level;

• small and controllable emissions;

• absence of heat detectors;

• simple control system with easy access to all controls;

• ground-level maintainability of all assemblies;

• absence of heat radiation.
